NEW FEATURES
  • The concept of item thickness has been introduced for Tray fill management. The UI form has equivalent controls for thickness as it does for weights. The up/down increments are in tenths of mm. The USE engine will still use the weight to control, but also this new thickness as an additional control – either one of which will trigger the end of a tray. Note that this new feature is turned OFF initially and will need to be switched ON by users. The setting is ‘Use Item Thickness to Control Tray Fill’. The ‘Tray Wiggle Room’ settings is now used on thickness rather than weight. Finally, note that this feature will have no effect on either Citipost or Secured Mail at this time. Note that there is a common line argument of /ITEMTHICKNESS= (Ref SS-766)
  • Secured Mail has the option to adjust average tray fill due to client feedback. It is defaulted to an average tray fill of 75 across all trays, however, please check with Secured Mail and adjust it accordingly in the default options. (Ref SS-738)
  • Manual Mailmark introduced for Whistl – Large Letter – General and Whist – Parcel – Business. Only National allowed. (Ref SS-798)
  • You can now change the DPS Strict Matching setting via command line using the switch, /STRICTDPSMATCH= TRUE or FALSE (Ref SS-814)

  • The cheapest option for Royal Mail has been removed. (Ref SS-788)
  • The bag smoothing option has been removed as the sort engine has been adjusted to always apply bag smoothing. (Ref SS-778)
  • Citipost and Whistl Large Letter 1400 Mech are invalid selections yet was allowed. These selections have been blocked. (Ref SS-803)

  • The 'Minimum Volume' section within the SystemSettings has been removed as it caused confusion that the minimum volumes for carriers could be changed. (Ref SS-807)
  • The SwiftSort application has been code signed due to changes in Windows 11. (Ref SS-800)
  • Logging has been added for the DPS 'StrictMatching' setting. '[Message]: DPS Strict Matching = False/True' will now appear in the running log if DPS generation is required. This setting can be found via navigating to System Settings > System > DPS Generation > Strict Matching. (Ref SS-813)

BUG FIXES
  • Whistl rejects are now being handled correctly in both the bag and upload (.tnt) files. (Ref UK-35)
  • An incorrect ‘machinable’ code was being output for Whistl 999 records. Now fixed! (Ref UK-93)
  • Entering a field name of 'AS' caused an error due to it being a protected SQL name. A check has been put in place to stop this field name being used when defining an input file. (Ref SS-781)
  • The setting ‘LockPAM1400UndersizedContainersAsSTL’ was globally setting undersized containers as STL to TRUE, rather than only being applied for PAM 1400 sorts. This has now been fixed. (Ref SS-795)

The Bag-Item link is output to both the UK Mail Bag file and GeMMA Manifest and is used by UK Mail to link the items in the manifest to the Bag. 1.9.7 (Released 30-04-14)

  • The TNT Segment Code control is now created and maintained via the sort engine. This change was implemented to bring both sort products into line and therefore eliminate the risk of a site with both products producing duplicate Segment Codes. A site can now point each product to the same central resource, if not possible the Segment Code allotment has also be divided between both products:-

Cygnus - 01 through HH
Swift Sort - I1 through ZH

This allows each product 323 unique Segment Codes which reduces the risk of duplication across products. Of course if a site has multiple installs of a single product then they should also centralise this resource.
